Artwalk Gardiner Information

Artwalk Gardiner formally began in the fall of 2005 by Artdogs Studios and a handful of artists in Gardiner Maine. The mission of Artwalk Gardiner is to increase community awareness and appreciation of the visual arts, encourage familiarity among local artists and the general public, provide artists with a supportive network, and foster the creative economy through regular art exhibitions in the downtown of Gardiner.

Gardiner Artwalks have been traditionally held in the evenings as a collaboration among local merchants, Gardiner Main Street, and area artists. The event features art in exhibition spaces and open studios in Gardiner. If you want to know more about Artwalk Gardiner or be on the mailing list, please direct your inquiries to The ARTDOGS at 207-582-6600 or email dogs@theartdogs.com

Artwalk Gardiner is an event that gets scheduled by the area artists each season. Artists wishing to join the Artwalk Gardiner are asked to contribute $65.00 per year ($40.00 for a half-year) to cover printing and publicity costs.

If you want to participate in the decision process you can come to planning meetings, which are announced on this site and on the Artwalk email listserve.

Friday December 5th 2008, 5:30 to 8:30 pm

Artwalk Gardiner takes place in the Historic District of downtown Gardiner. The Historic District is roughly a two block area of classic Greek Revival and Late Victorian architecture from a town established in 1758. Listed on the National Register of Historic places, it hosts Johnson Hall Opera House (1864) and was inspiration for poet Edward Arlington Robinson (1869–1935). It is one of only a few intact riverfront downtowns left in Maine.
Final 2008 artwalk will be held on December 5th - 5:30pm to 8:30 pm. If you are an artist interested in participating, please contact The ARTDOGS.

Artwalk Gardiner 2006

Artwalk Gardiner is an event established to promote Kennebec Valley artists. Artwalk Gardiner is dedicated to increasing community appreciation of the visual arts and providing artists with a supportive network through regular art exhibitions. Musicians have contributed public performances in select downtown venues. A1 To Go Community Market has given wine tastings just after the Artwalks, and Johnston Hall often has live events on Artwalk evenings. The Artwalk Gardiner is a great place to see art, have fun, and meet people.

PDF Maps of the Artwalk artist studio-sites and participating merchants will be available for print out from this site. Artwalk maps can also be picked up from shops in the Gardiner area about a week before the Artwalk.
